For the first time, twelve of our Year 9 and Year 10 students visited Chandra Kusuma International School in Medan, Indonesia. It was an eye opener for all of them as they made new friends and experienced a new culture in Medan. They also spent a night in Bukit Lawang (On The Rocks Chalets) and some were lucky to catch a glimpse of the orang-utans and a peacock during jungle trekking. The trip went on very well as our students portrayed exemplary behaviour and were cooperative throughout the entire trip.
Our Year 1 and Year 2 students had a fantastic time being creative with clay. They visited the Clay Expression Studio in Subang Jaya, as part of Their Key Stage 1 Term 2 field trip requirement. They made their very own 'teddy themed' pencil holders (Year 1) and animal mugs (Year 2). Here are some of the photographs of this exciting trip.
In KIS, we aim to nurture our students to become world citizens, who understand and respect other cultures and differences. This is achieved through our International Week, which was held on the last week of school (term 1).We celebrated our International Week with our annual primary school costume parade and performances. Our students also "traveled" to other classes to view the decorations and listened to presentations/briefings about the country.
Chinese New Year was celebrated in KIS students of all races. There were colourful and vibrant performances from singing to the presentation of Chinese classical musical instruments. The students KIS are truly talented and brilliant with their displays. We wish all our students, parents, friends and staff a happy and prosperous 2014.
"What is your favourite animal?" That's the theme for our KS1 students when they were brought to Clay Expressions Studio for clay modelling. They learned to mould their favourite animal using clay, and their brilliant creativity had produced these wonderful, nice-looking piece of clay art. So, what's your favourite animal?
